As the name indicates, our establishment is dedicated to the promotion of all Made-In-Aba Products and Services to the global markets.

Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency (MIAPPA) was jointly conceived by the promoters of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the private sector and agencies of the Governments to serve as the apex establishment to coordinate the promotion and enthronement of total patronage and preference for all made-in-Aba products and services to local and international market.

 

Globalization has challenged developing nations like Nigeria to compete for greater market share and attract Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in the highly competitive global economy.

 

As the World Trade Organisation (W.T.O.) continues to work on the elimination of national tariff and non-tariff barriers to trade, global markets have emerged as the most relevant playing field of all economic activities.

 

The projection of International Trade Center (ITC) is that by the end of 2017, the value of international trade and services between nations would be about $5.26 trillion per annum. The bulk of this growth is expected to come from developing countries of which Nigeria is one. The export of goods and services is therefore a major income earner for Nigeria, especially as the nation continues its integration into the global economy.

 

However, findings have revealed that Nigeria is lagging behind in non-oil export of goods and services, especially when compared to some other developing countries. As we are not rated among the rich countries, our oil notwithstanding.

 

Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency (MIAPPA) has therefore created appropriate programmes and strategies to effectively launch our locally manufactured products and services to the global markets and ensure our state and Nigeria’s meaningful participation to enhance benefits from the global economy.

 

The unfair and stiff global economic competition has seriously contributed to stifling local industries as foreign consumer goods flood Nigerian markets have, over time, witnessed an increasing preference for imported goods, resulting in an unpatriotic appetite among consumers. This trend has contributed to the collapse of many indigenous industries, widespread retrenchments in various organizations, rising unemployment, and a surge in crime rates across the state and the nation—particularly among the youth.

 

It is against this troubling backdrop that the Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency (MIAPPA) was established. The agency’s core objective is to foster sustainable re-orientation and sensitization of the Nigerian populace toward embracing and patronizing Made-in-Aba products and services.

MIAPPA Programmes and Strategies

1) To mobilize SME’s at the grassroots toward active participation and partnership in reviving the state industries.

2)To encourage healthy competition amongst our Small and Medium Enterprise producers and the local governments and state, toward achieving products excellence and to checkmate inflation and poor quality productions.

3). To create massive awareness campaign programmes towards changing the negative attitude of Nigerians to made in Aba product and services, using the Mass Social Media.

5). To establish thirty-six state chapters of Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency with state directors to lead and coordinate grassroots result-oriented nation-wide campaign to promote made in Aba products and services.

6). To create public awareness of the role of patriotic commitment in public and private sector enterprise and leadership to patronizing made in Aba products and services.

7). To coordinate the display and promotion of made in Aba products and services, assisting our local producers and manufacturers to become more competitive and have a greater share in the global economy.

8). To encourage Small and Medium Scale industries to showcase and promote their products and services in Made-In-Aba Products Expo (by-annually).

9). To facilitate market development and distribution channels for made in Aba products and services worldwide.

10). To advocate for trade policies and market development incentives suitable for the growth of local and foreign markets for Made in Aba products and services.

11). To serve as an integrated trade and investment information center for investors, manufacturers, researchers and traders.

12). To match-make local producers and manufacturers with local and foreign investors markets and appropriate technology relevant to products development.

13). To foster cooperation and partnership between SME’s in Abia state and their local and foreign counterparts for effective market

14) To spotlight the problems currently facing our local manufacturers and service providers with a view to finding sustainable solution.

15) To collaborate with states and federal government agencies and parastatals to promote made in Aba products and services in Nigeria and overseas markets.

16) To expose Abia State producers to foreign and local Investors, finance institutions and other donor agencies.

17). To design and implement an effective marketing support programme for made in Aba products and services.

18). To identify and source appropriate technologies for production that can enhance global competitiveness of made in Aba products and services.

19). To build strategic Made in Aba shopping plaza across the major commercial cities in Nigeria and worldwide to enhance market networking and quality control.

20). To identify and sensitize Nigerians in diaspora as a huge market for Made in Aba products and services.

21). To show-case Abia State investment opportunities, raw materials, products and services to attract foreign investments.

 

INTRODUCTION

 

Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency (MIAPPA) is fully registered in Nigeria with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as a non-governmental Trade Promotion Organization (T.P.O.) to co-ordinate the promotion of made in Aba products and services to global markets.

MIAPPA Promises to interact with local and foreign organizations whose services are vital to the development of local and foreign markets for our local products and services. Its establishment provides a forum for stakeholders’ interaction and adopts a concerted approach to issues of strategic importance to the development of our local and foreign markets for made in Aba products and services.

Our emphasis is on the sustainable revival and survival of our Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME’s), the Informal Sector, Operators (ISO’s) and to industrialize Abia State.

Our total focus is on the non-oil sector of our nation economy.

We tirelessly do as we can to encourage, assist, promote and create markets for our locally produced goods and services assisting local manufacturers and informal sector operators to enhance the quality and competitiveness of their products and develop capacity building so that when they enjoy the required/desired patronage it will naturally lead to high productivity, self-reliance and sufficiency both for local consumption and for export markets.

MIAPPA, have continued to work assiduously to mobilize our youths to think productively and to become wealth and job creators rather than habitual job seekers and dependents, this is the only ANTIDOTE or PANACEA to poverty alleviation and reduction of the ever-increasing rate of crimes and other anti-social vices in our state and Nigeria in general.

15. To identify with Nigerian Hotels, Schools, Hospitals, Churches, Mosques, Ministries and the Armed forces/ Paramilitary Agencies as effective
campaign platforms and partners to promote and revive the spirit of proudly buying and using made in Aba products

16. To identify and sensitize Nigerians in Diaspora as a huge market for made in Aba products and services.

17. To establish thirty six states chapters of Made-In-Aba Products Promotion Agency (MIAPPA) with state directors to lead a nationwide campaign to promote made in Aba products and services.

3). MIAPPA SHOPPING PLAZA: To Build Made- In-Aba Shopping Plazas in major commercial cities of Nigeria, Africa and Europe to effectively promote Made-In-Aba products and services to the world (Just like China Town models).

4). MIAPPA DATA BANK: To Develop a comprehensive data bank of Made-In-Aba Products and Services and their suppliers for trade information and match-making purposes.

5). MIAPPA HELP DESK: To Provide Trade Assistant Helpdesk to assist corporate members to locate local and foreign buyers for their Made-In-Aba products and services.

6). MIAPPA MAGAZINE: To Publish Made-In- Aba Products Magazine Monthly, to effectively promote our products and services to the global markets.

7). MIAPPA NEWSLETTER: To Publish MIAPPA Newsletter – Weekly, to be circulated and delivered via e-mail to subscribers interested in buying made in Aba products and services worldwide.

8). MIAPPA TV NETWORK: To Produce and broadcast Made-In-Aba TV Network – Weekly, a weekly TV program devoted to promoting and marketing our local products and services via channel on network television, via cable TVs, and on the Internet worldwide.

10). MIAPPA TREASURES/ SKILLS ACQUISITION: Organizing MIAPPA TREASURES Workshops and Seminars to effectively train and enlighten Abians on the methods of producing, distributing and exporting Made-In-Aba products and services globally.

 

MIAPPA AWARD PROGRAMMES:

 

(A). MIAPPA AWARDS: Organizing Made-In-Aba Product Patron Awards annually, to identify, recognize and honour individuals and organizations in public and private sectors that are committed to patronizing made in Aba products and services, both Nigerians and foreign importers of Nigerian products.

(B). MIAPPA V.I.P AWARDS: shall identify and recognize V.I.P. personalities in government and private sector organizations and honour them for demonstrating patriotic leadership in patronizing made in Aba products and services, to encourage leadership at all levels in patronizing our locally manufactured products and services.

(C). MIAPPA INDUSTRIES AWARDS: Shall identify and recognize corporate organizations, research and development institutions that make use of 75-100% local raw materials for the production of Nigeria International standard products, certified by Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and /or services and honour them to encourage continued research and use of local raw materials for industrial productions.

(D). MIAPPA EXPORTER AWARDS: Shall identify and recognise top exporters of Aba made products and services for the year under review and honour them to encourage continued commitment to export of made in Aba product and services.

(E). MIAPPA EXPORT SUPPORT AWARDS: Shall identify and recognise Best export support providers in Nigeria and honour them, e.g Best export finance banks of the year, Best trade company of the year, Best export insurance company of the year, Best Air/ Sea port of the year, in order to encourage financial and institutional support for our locally made products and services development.

(F). MIAPPA CORPORATE AWARDS: Shall identify and recognise corporate organisations, research and development institutions that are committed to patronising made in Aba products and services in their establishments to encourage continued patronage of locally manufactured products and services by Nigerian Corporate organisations and public institutions.

(G). MIAPPA HOSPITALITY AWARDS: Shall identify and recognise the best indigenous hospitality hotels and tourist destinations in Aba/ Abia State and honour them, to encourage tourism development and export of Nigerian hospitality and culture.

(H). MIAPPA CREATIVITY AWARDS: Shall identify and recognize creative talents in the fashion movies and music industry and honour them to encourage the use of our home movies and music videos to project positive image of made in Aba products and services globally.

(I). MIAPPA ENTERPRISES AWARDS: Shall who have creative, inventive or innovative products and/or services excellence and honour them, to encourage sustainable entrepreneurship in Nigeria.

(J). MIAPPA MEDIA AWARDS: Shall identify and recognise electronic and print media locally and abroad that feature best advertising and promotional preference for made in Aba products and services.
